Working on Watercolors
I switched to a watercolor sketchbook today instead of the mixed media one I was using for the first set of watercolors this month, and it feels so different—not in a bad way, just different. I appreciate the ability to layer more on this thicker, rougher paper.
Gifts That Reflect My Journey
As the holiday season wraps up and I find myself surrounded by an array of gifts, I've been reflecting on how these gifts from friends and family serve as snapshots of who I am at this point in my life. This year, I received watercolors, design books, creativity books, an eclectic assortment of pencils, art store gift cards, sketchbooks, travel literature, and even books on mountain biking. Each gift tells a story, capturing my passions and aspirations in this moment.
South Mountain Rock Sketch
This sketch started with photo roulette. You begin to scroll through your photo stream quickly and then randomly stop on a photo - and that’s what you draw.
Sketching Animals with Hats
The learning never ends. I signed up for Mike Lowery's class, Getting Paid to Draw, which has been excellent.
Soup Sketch
I wanted to draw these soups because of the bright colors. I am unsure if colored pencils were the right medium, but it’s done.
Coffee Sketch
It was the morning wake up for my daughter and I was sitting on the edge of her bed looking down at my black coffee.
January Sketches
January was a continuation of sketching with intention. I started Liz Steel’s online course titled Foundations and it has been fantastic.
December Sketches
I am starting to sketch again with intention. It has been fun to put ink to paper again, and now watercolor as well. I have a lot to learn!
